Community Insight

This question tests the appropriate data-loading mechanism for Power Platform, trapping those who confuse specific export templates with general import utilities.

When loading existing contact data from an Excel file into a Microsoft Power Platform solution, the native Import from Excel feature is the standard and most efficient method. This page confirms why the Import from Excel feature is the correct recommendation over templates or static worksheets.

Choosing A (Pipeline Management Excel template) because it mentions Excel, but this template is designed for specific pipeline scenarios rather than general data loading.

C: Use the Import from Excel feature. Data is already in excel. It will only upload on and mapped the fields.

We ca use Templates for export or import with some modification to respect template structure, but in this uses case, import is the best solution, you can map columns on import wizard so the answer is C

A is for exports

Expert Analysis

Why the Answer Is Correct

Option C is correct because the "Import from Excel" feature is the native, out-of-the-box functionality in Microsoft Power Platform designed specifically to upload data from an Excel file and map its columns to Dataverse tables. Since the data is already in an Excel file, this feature provides the most direct and efficient path to load the contacts into the solution.

Why the Other Options Are Wrong

Option A is incorrect because the Pipeline Management Excel template is a predefined template for specific business processes (often used for exporting or highly structured imports), not a general-purpose tool for importing an arbitrary list of contacts. Option B is incorrect because adding contacts to a static worksheet does not load the data into the Power Platform solution; it merely keeps the data isolated in Excel.

Community Comment Notes

Commenters agree that the data already being in Excel makes the Import from Excel feature the logical choice, as noted by Evincible who stated "Data is already in excel. It will only upload on and mapped the fields." Another commenter pointed out that templates are more suited for exports, noting "A is for exports".

Exam Strategy

For data migration questions, identify if the data is already in a supported format like Excel or CSV. If it is, always prefer the native Import feature over modifying templates or using static worksheets.
