Community Insight

This question tests verbatim recall of the three documented notification methods — Email, SMS, and Meeting Invitation — and the trap is swapping the odd-sounding Meeting Invitation for the more intuitive Browser Pop-ups.

ServiceNow notifications alert users when events that concern them occur through three delivery methods: Email, SMS, and Meeting Invitation. The community strongly supports ABE, citing the official ServiceNow Admin Fundamentals book, which lists exactly these three methods.

BCE is the most common wrong answer: candidates replace Meeting Invitation with Browser Pop-ups because a calendar invite doesn't feel like a notification, even though the official courseware and documentation explicitly list Meeting Invitation as a delivery method.

Email, SMS, Meeting Invitation is the correct answer. Check the book

Initially I selected BCE, as Meeting Invitation makes little sense as a Notification from SN. That is done via the calendar app. But in the book, Washington, there are 3 methods listed: Email, SMS, Meeting Invitation

as per the book

I'm beginning to question the validity of the answers on this site. How in the world is a meeting invitation considered a notification???

Expert Analysis

Why the Answer Is Correct

ABE — Email, SMS, and Meeting Invitation — matches the ServiceNow Admin Fundamentals courseware word for word. Comment [2] (4 likes) quotes page 324 of the Vancouver book verbatim: "A notification is a tool for alerting users when events that concern them have occurred through the following methods: Email, SMS, Meeting Invitation." Comment [4] independently confirms the Washington edition lists the same three methods, and comments [1] and [3] verify it from the book as well. In ServiceNow, a notification record can be delivered as an email, as an SMS via an email-to-SMS gateway, or as a meeting invitation that places the event on the recipient's calendar.

Why the Other Options Are Wrong

Browser Pop-ups (C) and Messenger (D) are not documented ServiceNow notification delivery methods. The ServiceNow notification engine produces email-based output; SMS is delivered through an SMS gateway address and Meeting Invitations through iCalendar content, but there is no native browser pop-up or messenger notification channel. Comment [6] links the official documentation describing these mechanisms, and comment [5] illustrates why BCE feels intuitive yet fails against the documented list. Comments [5] and [7] represent the common BCE guess that the course book explicitly contradicts.

Community Comment Notes

The vote distribution (65 for ABE vs. 24 for BCE) and the highest-liked comments strongly favor ABE. Comment [2] is the most authoritative because it cites the exact page and wording, while comment [4] explains the Meeting Invitation trap and why the book still lists it. Comment [5] voices skepticism about Meeting Invitations but is directly answered by comment [4]'s book citation. Comment [6]'s BDE answer is an outlier with no supporting courseware citation and should be disregarded.

Exam Strategy

When a question's wording mirrors the courseware phrase 'alert users when events that concern them have occurred,' answer with the exact documented trio: Email, SMS, Meeting Invitation. Do not reject an option just because it seems counterintuitive — ServiceNow exams test the book, not intuition. Memorize these three notification methods as a fixed set.
