Azure Support Plans Allowing Technical Support Requests

Describe cloud computing
Answer The correct options to drag are Developer, Standard, Professional Direct, and Premier. The Basic plan is incorrect because it does not support technical requests.

DRAG DROP Your company intends to subscribe to an Azure support plan. The support plan must allow for new support requests to be opened. Which of the following are support plans that will allow this? Answer by dragging the correct option from the list to the answer area. Select and Place: [sampleXML/xmlfile-3_1.png]

Community Insight

The question tests knowledge of Azure support plan tiers, with the common trap being the assumption that 'Basic' includes technical support when it only covers billing and subscription management.

This page clarifies which Azure support plans permit opening technical support requests, distinguishing them from billing-only options. It establishes that Basic is excluded while Developer, Standard, Professional Direct, and Premier allow technical tickets.

Learners often select the Basic plan because it allows creating 'support requests', failing to realize these are restricted to billing issues and do not provide technical assistance for workloads.

The Developer, Standard, and Professional Direct Azure support plans allow users to open technical support requests with Microsoft. The Developer plan is suitable for development and testing, the Standard plan provides technical support for production workloads, and the Professional Direct plan provides a higher level of support for business-critical workloads. The Basic plan does not include technical support requests.

Basic: Does NOT allow technical support requests (only billing and subscription support). Developer: Allows support requests (entry-level plan for development environments). Standard: Allows support requests (for production workloads). Professional Direct: Allows support requests (for business-critical workloads). Premier: Allows support requests (highest level with dedicated support).

In this question the wording is important. The requirement says: “The support plan must allow for new support requests to be opened.” If we talk about technical support requests, then the correct plans are: Developer, Standard, Professional Direct, and Premier (Unified in the current docs). However, the Basic plan also allows opening billing and subscription support requests, even though it does not provide technical support. That’s why in this question Basic is included as correct. The confusion comes from mixing “support requests” in general with “technical support requests”.

From chatptg: Azure offers several support plans that allow opening of new support requests, including: Basic Support: provides 12x5 technical support with a 1-hour response time for critical issues. Developer Support: provides 24x7 support for development and testing. Standard Support: provides 24x7 technical support with a 1-hour response time for critical issues. Professional Direct: provides personalized 24x7 technical support directly from Microsoft experts. Premier Support: provides the highest level of technical support with dedicated support engineers. All of these support plans allow for opening new support requests. The level of support and response time vary between the plans. So all of them

The correct answer should be: -Developer -Standard -Professional Direct -Premier I found this explanation: The Basic support plan does not allow opening new support requests. It only provides access to billing and subscription management support, online self-help resources, and support forums. The Developer, Standard, Professional Direct, and Premier support plans all allow your company to open new support requests with Microsoft for technical assistance. These plans offer increasing levels of support, response times, and additional benefits as you move up the tiers. The Developer plan has the lowest cost and is suitable for trial and non-production environments. Standard is ideal for production workloads, while Professional Direct and Premier provide the highest level of support with faster response times, proactive guidance, and additional services like on-demand training and advisory consultations.

Updated Correct Answer is below: Basic Developer Standard Professional Direct Explanation: As Premier is now only supported for the existing users until 1st of July 2022, but not for new users. This question shows that you are a new user. As 1st of July 2022, Microsoft will no longer enter into Premier support agreements for new customers. Beginning 1st of July 2022, Microsoft will no longer offer Premier support agreements for renewing customers.

seems like you can raise as many tickets as you want with Basic but not techincal! Got this when trying to raise tech ticket using basic acc. Premier plan in Azure ?
northgaterebel 👍 4
According to the link Basic also allows you the "Ability to submit as many support tickets as you need" but does not allow "24/7 access to technical support by email and phone after a support request is submitted." Could be a poorly worded question?
DevMonkey 👍 2
The support plans offered on Azure are Basic, Developer, Standard and Professional Direct Therefore I think the suggested answer is incorrect for two reasons. 1) Premier does not exist on the list of plans and 2) The 4 mentioned above all allow unlimited support tickets

Expert Analysis

Why the Answer Is Correct

To open a technical support request in Azure, you must subscribe to a paid support plan. The valid options are Developer, Standard, Professional Direct, and Premier (for existing customers). These tiers provide access to Microsoft Support engineers who can assist with technical issues related to Azure services.

Why Other Candidate Answers Are Wrong

The Basic support plan is free but explicitly does not include technical support. As noted by community members, attempting to raise a technical ticket on a Basic plan results in an upgrade prompt or referral to self-help resources. Therefore, Basic is incorrect for this scenario.

Community Comment Notes

Community consensus strongly highlights the distinction between billing and technical support. One user noted, "Basic: Does NOT allow technical support requests... Developer: Allows support requests." Another confirmed, "With your Basic support plan, you can create support requests for billing, subscription management, and quota increase. For technical support, upgrade to a paid support plan." This confirms that any plan other than Basic is a correct selection for this drag-and-drop item.

Exam Strategy

Memorize the four paid support tiers (Developer, Standard, Professional Direct, Premier) as the only options for technical support. Remember that Basic is free and limited to billing/subscription queries only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I open technical support tickets with the Basic Azure support plan?

No. The Basic plan only allows requests for billing, subscription management, and quota increases. Technical support requires a paid plan.

Is Premier support available for new Azure customers?

As of July 2022, Microsoft no longer offers Premier support agreements for new customers. Existing customers can renew, but new users should consider Professional Direct.
