App attach requires Windows 10/11 Enterprise or Enterprise multi-session; Windows Pro and Windows Server are not supported.

MSIX app attach in Azure Virtual Desktop requires session hosts running Windows 10/11 Enterprise or Enterprise multi-session. This guide establishes that Windows 10 Pro and Windows Server are not supported, limiting app attach to specific host pools.

Choosing options that include Windows Server or Windows 10 Pro, assuming all Windows client or server OS types support app attach.

A Your session hosts need to run a supported Windows client operating system and at least one of them must be powered on. Windows Server isn't supported. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/app-attach-setup?tabs=portal&pivots=app-attach

This question is very ambiguous. It says to "use" app attach. App attach can be used with Win10, Win11, or Server 2016 - 2022. You can, however, only create MSIX images using Win10 or Win11. But it says "use" not create an app attach image. For this reason, I say E, all the Pools.

Prerequisites Before you can create an MSIX image, you need the following things: - Download the MSIXMGR tool and extract it to a folder. - Administrative permissions on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 device to create the MSIX image. - An MSIX-packaged application (.msix file) you want to use with Azure Virtual Desktop. It should be A. It is not supported with W10 pro and Server.

Expert Analysis

Why the Answer Is Correct

MSIX app attach is a feature in Azure Virtual Desktop that requires specific operating system editions to function. According to Microsoft's official prerequisites, session hosts must run Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session, or Windows 11 Enterprise/multi-session. Because Pool1 and Pool2 are configured with these supported Enterprise editions, they can use app attach.

Why the Other Options Are Wrong

Options including Pool3 and Pool4 are incorrect because app attach does not support Windows 10 Pro or any Windows Server operating systems. Windows Pro lacks the necessary enterprise-level MSIX packaging features, and Windows Server is explicitly listed as unsupported in the documentation. Therefore, any host pool running Pro or Server editions cannot use app attach.

Community Comment Notes

Several community members correctly pointed out that Windows Server and Windows 10 Pro are not supported for app attach, as Darkphoenix126 noted "It is not supported with W10 pro and Server." Moot2 further reinforced this by stating "Windows Server isn't supported." While some users debated the ambiguity between creating and using MSIX images, the official prerequisites clearly restrict the session host OS for using app attach to Enterprise editions.

Exam Strategy

When evaluating AVD host pool capabilities for MSIX app attach, immediately eliminate any pools running Windows Server or Windows Pro editions. Only Windows Enterprise and Enterprise multi-session are supported.
